A 4-month study project between the entire Game Design promotion (about thirty people).

For this project, only Game designers contributed, without any help from the artistic department. All the mini-games had to be made from our own artistic skills.

The objective is to be able to manage the production of mini-games in an individual way and being versatile enough to adapt to the lack of artists. In addition, we had to organize ourselves like a small production studio in order to finish the production within the time constraint.

No Play No Gain is a Wario Ware, that is to say a game offering levels during which very short mini-games of a few seconds are linked. To advance, you have to succeed in the series of mini-games offered. We have revisited the concept by offering an original macro experience and minigames of our own design.

In No Play No Gain, you embody a little girl in an elementary school yard who rises against a brutal school gang doing the law. And the law in this playground is governed by one thing: game cartridges. Each member of this gang has their own cartridge belt that they have collected by racketeering and stealing games from other children. Your goal? Defeat their series of play to create your cartridge belt and become strong enough to defeat all the lieutenants of the gang to finally face Mad Mat, their leader.
